Here, however, it is proper to consider what the dreadful iniquity is which is not to be pardoned. The definition which Augustine somewhere gives August. Lib. de Correp. et Gratia, cap. 12 The Greek is “του̑ πνεύματος βλασφημία” This Calvin translates in Latin, “Spiritum blasphemiæ,”, and in French, “Esprit de blaspheme.” The omission of this last clause in the French seems to be an improvement.
